SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity softball team secured their fifth win of the 2017 season with a 4-1 victory over Middlesex High School on Monday, April 17. Joey Bartusak went the distance on the mound, pitching a five-hitter. Bartusak struck out four and did not give up a walk. Her counterpart, Amanda Perez, pitched six innings, giving up six hits. Perez struck out one and also did not allow a walk.

Sophomore Angelina Perez started her first varsity game for the Chargers, going one-for-two. Perez had one RBI and scored a run. Rachel Intravartola was two-for-three. Julie Raba and Megan Tully were one-for-three with one RBI for Spotswood while Shannon Gonnella was one-for-two with a double. Spotswood scored all four of their runs in the second inning on six hits.

Ashley Dotey was two-for-three for Middlesex with a double. Jaclyn Kobilis had one RBI for the Blue Jays.

Spotswood will travel to Sayreville High School this afternoon for a 4 p.m. game against the Bombers.
