CARTERET, NJ - In a wild game filled with multiple errors on both sides, the Spotswood High School varsity softball team lost to Carteret High School on Friday, 19-16. Carteret had a 19-13 lead by the sixth inning as both teams traded runs. Spotswood held a rally in the seventh to close the gap to three runs, but fell short, dropping their overall season record to 3-5.

Melody Caces had a triple and a homerun for Carteret along with three RBIs and two stolen bases. Gineyra Rios had a double and a triple as well as two stolen bases in Carteret's victory. Cassandra Archer had three RBIs for Spotswood, hitting two doubles. Angelina Perez hit a double and a homerun. Perez finished with two RBIs. Savannah Robinson also had two RBIs for the Chargers. Brittany Rifenburg had a double as well in the loss while Breanna Socoloski picked up two hits. Spotswood had singles f rom Georgia Kartelins and Kaylisse Modeste.

Spotswood will head to the Civic Center Park Sports Center in Carteret on Saturday for two games. The Chargers will play Edison High School at 11 a.m. and Bishop Ahr High School at 1 p.m.
