DUNELLEN, NJ - Spotswood High School varsity softball's one run lead over Dunellen High School in the second inning on Wednesday was short lived. Four runs in the fourth would give the Destroyers the lead. Dunellen would add three more in the fifth and five in the sixth to cap off a 13-3 victory over the Chargers. The loss drops Spotswood's overall record on the season to 3-4. Spotswood is 3-2 in league play.
Dunellen's Chloe Dale smacked two doubles and had five RBIs in the game. The Destroyers also had doubles from Erin Barnett, Chloe Cassidy, Alexis Coore and Meghan Green. Spotswood's Savannah Robinson was 2-for-2 with a homerun and one RBI. Brittany Rifenburg and Heather Cuttler had hits as well for the Chargers. Elizabeth Renavitz got the win on the mound for Dunellen, striking out six.
Spotswood will head to Middlesex on Thursday, weather permitting, to take on Middlesex High School at 4 p.m.
