Spotswood Softball Routs New Brunswick

SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity softball team defeated New Brunswick High School on Wednesday, 12-2. Spotswood broke the game open in the third with five runs before taking on six more in the fifth. The Zebras got their two runs in the fourth inning. Maddie Chu went the distance for Spotswood, pitching five innings and giving up two runs on two hits.

Mikayla Umanzar had a triple in the win, scored three runs and picked up a stolen base. Krista VanWageninge hit a two RBI double. The Chargers also got hits from Cassandra Archer and Lexi Brown.

The team's win improves their overall season record to 3-1. Spotswood league record is 3-1 as well. Spotswood takes the field again on Thursday against Colonia High School. First pitch is 4 p.m.
