BORDENTOWN, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity softball team was shutout by Bordentown High School Monday 12-0 in the Central Jersey Group Two NJSIAA Tournament. Second seeded Bordentown knocked the fifteenth seeded Chargers out of tournament play, moving on to face tenth seeded Metuchen High School.

Brittany Rifenburg got the lone hit off of Bordentown's Annabella Pisapia. Pisapia struck out 10 batters in five innings on the mound. She also drove in three RBIs. Mackenzie Drummond, Makenza Goleniecki, Michaela Luber and Annabella Marino all had doubles for Monmouth who had a six-run lead by the end of the second inning.

Spotswood concludes the 2018 season with a 13-12 overall record. After a losing six straight games in April, the Chargers bounced back with a string of victories in the Greater Middlesex County Invitational Tournament, defeating Piscataway Tech, Woodbridge Academy and East Brunswick Tech. Spotswood's 8-2 May record helped the team to move above the .500 mark. The Chargers were 7-4 in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division, finishing behind Metuchen, Dunellen and Carteret High Schools.
