SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity softball team defeated New Brunswick High School 15-5 for its third straight victory on Friday, April 28. Angelina Perez was three-for-three, hitting three singles and scoring two runs for the Chargers. Krista VanWageninge had two hits and three RBIs in the win while Julie Raba hit two singles and added two RBIs. Raba also scored three runs for the Chargers. Both Rachel Intravartola and Megan Tully had two singles and two RBIs in the win.

Maddie Chu earned the victory on the mound for Spotswood, allowing four runs on seven hits. Chu struck out five. Rosnelly Duran earned the loss for New Brunswick, allowing seven runs on five hits in two and two-thirds innings. Lisbeth Reyes pitched two innings, giving up eight runs on 12 hits. Altgracia Estevez and Mariela Hernandez both had an RBI and a single for the Zebras.

Their win improved the Chargers' overall season record to 9-8. They are 7-3 in league play . Spotswood will look to make it four in a row against Mother Seton Regional High School on Tuesday, May 2. The teams will hit the Spotswood High School Varsity Softball Field at 4 p.m.
