SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys varsity tennis team defeated South River on Tuesday, May 2, 4-1, to complete the season sweep over the Rams. The Chargers Derek Miller didn't loose a game in his first singles victory over Brandon Vargas, winning (6-0, 6-0). John Tobia won his second singles match in straight sets as well, defeating the Rams Paul Brinklin, (6-1, 6-3). Sophomore Josh Mathew defeated Arbav Jain, (6-3, 6-3) to win his third singles match. Neil Rana and Hunter McFeeley earned the only point for South River, defeating the first doubles team of Matt Evanego and Stephen Gardner, (6-4, 6-3). Ryan Miller and Mike Kaczmarski won their second double match against South River's Natan Pena and Brandon Olivecia, (6-0, 6-2).
The win improved Spotswood's overall season record to 6-4. South River has not won a match all season. The Chargers will take on Metuchen today at the Spotswood tennis courts on Summerhill Road at 4 p.m.
