SPOTSWOOD, NJ - To the disappointment of many residents, last year's borough tree lighting was canceled due to weather. This year there will be a rain date for the Saturday, December 7 tree lighting if Mother Nature does not cooperate. Sunday, December 8 will be the rain date for the community-wide event.

The tree lighting's annual festivities include entertainment from the Spotswood High School Festivus Brass Choir and Drama Club, Krista Masucci and the Schoenly School Chorus. Younger residents can send early wishes to Santa at the Christmas Wishes Booth. Santa will of course stop by for his yearly visit courtesy of the Spotswood Fire Department. There will be giveaways, games and crafts along with treats and warm beverages thanks to the Spotswood Recreation Department.

The fun begins at 4:30 p.m. with the ceremony starting at 5:15 p.m. Residents are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Alice's CUP food pantry. Suggested donation items include:
