SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team will meet rival Metuchen in the first round of the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament.
Metuchen won their preliminary round game against Highland Park yesterday, 4-1. The Bulldogs are seeded eleventh in the GMC Tournament and are ranked seventh in the conference with a 13-2-1 overall record.
Spotswood is ranked eighth in the GMC conference with a 12-3-1 overall record. They are seeded sixth in the tournament.
The Chargers and the Bulldogs met twice this season. Spotswood won the first meeting 1-0 and lost the second one 3-1. It was the Bulldogs that ended Spotswood's 13 game unbeaten streak on October 17.
Their first round matchup will be played on Friday, October 23 at home. A starting time is not listed on the schedule. However, all of the Chargers' home games this season have begun at 4 p.m.
The winner of the game between the Chargers and the Bulldogs will face the winner of the East Brunswick/Middlesex game, which is also being played on Friday. East Brunswick is the third seed in the tournament and Middlesex is the fourteenth.
