SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity wrestling team started off the New Year with a 48-30 win over Metuchen High School. Their victory evens the team's overall season record at 2-2. They are 2-1 in conference play.

Alexander Cohen, Connor Platt, Tyler Jacobs, Michael LeRoy and Donald Shaffer all won their matches against the Bulldogs by forfeit. Thomas Perpente lost his match to Metuchen's Arun Chezian on a pin. Connor Johnson, Ramy Elhalaka, Alexander Smith and Nick Komosinski also dropped their matches on pins to Metuchen. Spotswood's Alex Hartman defeated Portia Koch on a pin. Shea Obado won his match over Keaton Weidmaier while Matthew Bohinski took his matchup over the Bulldogs' Frank Crapon. Both Obado and Bohinski won on pins.

The Chargers will travel to Hightstown High School on Saturday, January 7 for a 10 a.m. meet. In addition to Hightstown High School, the Chargers will also face off against Middletown South High School.
