Spotswood's Marlon Hart Helps Spotswood Defeat Middlesex

SPOTSWOOD, NJ - A big game for Marlon Hart helped to propel the Spotswood High School varsity football team to a 45-28 win yesterday over Middlesex. The victory increased the team's overall record to 6-2 on the season. They remain undefeated in conference play with a 4-0 record.

Hart had a huge day on the field for the Chargers, scoring three touchdowns. The senior caught three passes for 149-yards. Hart also scored a key touchdown with 11 seconds remaining in the second quarter when he returned a kick for an 80-yard score.

Middlesex drew first blood in the game when Ryan Coke scored on a two-yard run in the first quarter. Spotswood counterd with a 24-yard rushing touchdown by Jack Keenan.

Senior Joe Hayford also had a stellar afternoon for the Chargers, scoring two touchdowns. Hayford rushed for 116-yards on 26 carries.

Quarterback Shawn O'Connor completed seven of 11 passes for the day for a total of 185-yards. He threw two touchdowns and had one interception.

The Blue Jays quarterback Michael Cresitello completed four of 11 passes for a total of 61-yards. Cresitello threw one touchdown and also had one interception.

Kicker Ryan Szatkowski connected on all six extra points for the Chargers and also kicked a 23-yard field goal.

The Chargers will take on Metuchen at home next week with a 2 p.m kickoff. It will be the final regular season game for the Chargers.
