Spotwood Loses to East Brunswick on the Court

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Eric Dadika put 30 points on the board for the Spotswood High School boys varsity basketball team yesterday, but so did East Brunswick's Addis Ralph. The Chargers posted their fourth loss of the season to the Bears on Tuesday, 77-59.

Senior Marlon Hart netted 17 points for Spotswood in the loss while fellow senior Dan Newton added five. Andrew Fuzesi earned three and Justin Dekovics and JT Vento chipped in two each.

The Chargers were down 33-25 at the half, but a strong fourth quarter by East Brunswick pushed the game out of reach.

The Bears' Matt Ross scored 12 points in the win for East Brunswick. Teammate Mike Brizuela added 11 while Mike Vick netted ten.

The loss moves the Chargers overall record on the season to 19-4.

Their next game will be their first round matchup in the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament. The game will be played at home on Thursday, February 18 against South Plainfield. A start time was not listed at the time of publication.

South Plainfield is the 25 seed in the tournament. They won their play-in round game against Timothy Christian, 67-55, over the weekend and went on to beat Perth Amboy Tech, 55-52, in the preliminary round. Perth Amboy Tech was the ninth seed in the tournament.

Spotswood received byes for the play-in and preliminary rounds. They are the eighth seed in the tournament. The winner will go on to meet the victor of the St. Joseph's Metuchen/Bishop Ahr first round matchup in the quarterfinals. St. Joe's holds the number one seed in the tournament.
