Summer Rocks At The Spotswood Public Library

SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood Public Library is closed for renovations from June 18 through June 22. However, when it reopens on Monday, June 25, the library will be ready to rock. Libraries Rock is the theme for Summer Reading this year and the Spotswood Public Library has a whole host of events for kids of all ages and adults too to get everyone reading and enjoying a little free fun while celebrating libraries.

Upcoming events include:

  • June 26 at 3:30 p.m. - Fun with Fossils for kids three years of age to five
  • June 27 at 11 a.m. - Kids of all ages and grownups to can come and see a fire truck and other emergency service vehicles from the inside and out; registration not required
  • June 27 at 3:30 p.m. - Fun with Fossils for kids entering kindergarten through second grade
  • June 28 at 3:30 p.m. - Tweens in grades three through five can participate in Minute to Win It games and win prizes
  • July 3 at 3:30 p.m. - Celebrate a 1950s style Fourth of July and make paper fireworks; for kids ages three through five
  • July 5 at 3:30 p.m. - Tween in grades third through fifth can make their own album cover and rock out with this fun All Shook Up event
  • July 10 at 6:30 p.m. - Stuffed Animal Sleepover
  • July 10 at 3:30 p.m. - Space Race for ages three to five
  • July 11 at 3:30 p.m. - Space Race for grades kindergarten through second
  • July 12 at 3:30 p.m. - Let the Sunshine In and make a tie-dye shirt; for tweens in grades three through five; must bring own white tee
  • July 17 at 3:30 p.m. - Kids ages three through five can make a pet rock pal
  • July 18 3:30 p.m. - Kids in grades kindergarten through second can make a pet rock pal
  • July 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Celebrate winter in July; all ages welcome and registration isn't required
  • July 19 at 3:30 p.m. - Tweens in grades three to five get to make a pet rock
  • July 24 at 3:30 p.m. - Time to Sing for kids three to five
  • July 25 at 3:30 p.m. - Weepful Mania for kids in kindergarten to second grade
  • July 26 at 3:30 p.m. - I Love Rock N Roll for tweens in grades three to five
  • July 31 at 3:30 p.m. - Chia Pet fun for kids ages three to five
  • August 1 at 3:30 p.m. - Chia Pet fun for grades kindergarten through second
  • August 2 at 3:30 p.m. - Tweens in grades three to five make a music note or record from Perler beads
  • August 7 at 3:30 p.m. - Into the Future portraits for kids ages three to five
  • August 8 at 3:30 p.m. - Into the Future portraits for grades kindergarten through second
  • August 9 at 3:30 p.m. - Welcome to the Future instrument making for tweens in grades three through five
  • August 14 at 7 p.m. - End of Summer Party with Zoom Balloons; open to all ages but registration is required

The library will also have summer story time sessions for various age groups. The schedule can be found on the Spotswood Public Library's website. Registration is required for story time sessions.

Musicals will be shown every Friday in the summer at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate the Libraries Rock theme. The schedule is as follows:

  • June 29 "1776"
  • July 6 "Yankee Doodle Dandy"
  • July 13 "Jersey Boys"
  • July 20 "Bye Bye Birdie"
  • July 27 "Grease"
  • August 3 "On The Town"
  • August 10 "Chicago"

Adult crafts classes will be held on July 5 and August 2 at 6:30 p.m. Participants will paint on glass with alcohol-based inks on July 5 and make a succulent planter from recycled books on August 2.

All library events require registration unless noted otherwise. Registration can be done online at the Spotswood Public Library's website or by telephoning the library at 732-251-1515.
