Time To Register For Milltown's Annual Firecracker 5K

MILLTOWN, NJ - Yes, runners and walkers it's time to book a spot in Milltown's twenty-seventh annual Fourth of July Firecracker 5K. Online registration is up and running with the price set to go up at 12 a.m. on Monday, June 12. The cost of the Fun Run is currently $7 and the 5K is $25. On June 12, the entrance fee for the Fun Run will be $10 and the 5K will be $30. T-shirts are guaranteed to all 5K participants who register prior to June 11. Fun run medals are for all runners under the age of 14.

The Milltown Firecracker 5K is an USATF certified course. The race will run rain or shine on Tuesday, July 4 with the One-Mile Fun Run kicking off at 7:45 a.m. and the cannon marking the start of the 5K at 8:10 a.m.

Race packets can be picked up at Roadrunner Sports on Monday, July 3 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Roadrunner Sports is located at 501 Shoppes Boulevard in North Brunswick. Race packets can also be pickup up prior to the start of the race at the Milltown Senior Center on 60 Violet Terrace.

Milltown's Kyle Price was the 2016 Firecracker 5K winner, finishing with a time of 16:16. East Brunswick's Anthony Harris was second with a time of 16:27.5. Spotswood's Nicole Salge was the top female finisher with a time of 19:39.6.

Stick around after the race to get a prime spot for Milltown's Fourth of July Parade. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at VanLiew Avenue and continues down Main Street before turning left on Lincoln Avenue. The procession then turns left onto JFK Boulevard before concluding at Borough Park. Milltown caps off a day of patriotic family-friendly fun with fireworks at 9 p.m. at Borough Park.
