EWING, NJ― On Saturday, January 23, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman will be honored at the 24th Annual Trumpet Awards in Atlanta, Georgia alongside the women of the Congressional Black Caucus of the 114th Congress.
Hosted by the Trumpet Awards Foundation and title sponsor American Family Insurance, the Trumpet Awards celebrate and pay tribute to history-making individuals from humanitarian, entertainment, political, and philanthropic backgrounds. Additional honorees at this year’s Trumpet Awards will include recording artist Ne-Yo, television and film producer Will Packer, comedian and actor George Wallace, and General Motors executive Alicia Boler-Davis.
“In recognizing the largest group of African American women the U.S. Congress has seen, this award salutes the progress our nation has made in one of the most fundamental ways imaginable: ensuring that the People’s House reflects the diverse constituencies each of us serve,” said Watson Coleman. “I’m thrilled to join my colleagues in this honor, and excited about the standard of change we’re setting. With a Congress that’s still 80 percent men and overwhelmingly white, we’ve got a ways to go. But that doesn’t mean we haven’t accomplished very real change.”
The Trumpet Awards will be broadcast on Bounce TV on Friday, January 29th at 9:00PM, and include appearances by Salt-N-Peppa, MC Lyte, Kelly Price, Andra Day, Regina Hall, and Bryshere “Yazz” Gray.
