SPOTSWOOD, NJ - With 30 seconds left in Thursday's Spotswood High School boys varsity soccer game against Metuchen High School, Yanni Hatzistefanis netted the game-winning goal on a pass from Steven Karczewski to give the Chargers a 2-1 victory. The win over the Bulldogs improved the Chargers' overall season record to 4-2. Spotswood's division record is 4-1 and the Chargers are currently second in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division behind South Plainfield High School.

The Chargers got on the scoreboard first on a goal from Chris Moran. Moran scored on a feed from Hatzistefanis. Hatzistefanis had two points in the Chargers' victory. Spotswood went into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead, but the Bulldogs tied the game on a penalty kick from Luke Riveira in the second half. Giocomo Spasiano made six saves for Metuchen and Andrew Bishara stopped six Bulldog shots.

Spotswood will take on Woodbridge High School at the Spotswood High School Varsity Soccer Field on Saturday. Game time is 10 a.m.
