METUCHEN, NJ - Junior Yanni Hatzistefanis scored the only goal for the Spotswood High School boys varsity soccer team on Monday in the Chargers 1-1 tie with Metuchen High School. Hatzistefanis netted the tying goal on a penalty kick to help improve the Chargers overall season record to 4-2-2. Avi Hogan-Appell scored for Metuchen 10 minutes into the second half. Justin Wentnick and Micheal Cyran assisted on Hogan-Appell's score. Hatzistefanis got Spotswood on the scoreboard with ten minutes remaining in regulation time.

Giocomo Spasiano made five saves for Metuchen while Andrew Bishara stopped 12 Bulldog shots for Spotswood. The Chargers are currently second in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division with a 4-2-2 conference record. South Plainfield High School leads the Blue Division.

Spotswood travels to Veterans Park in South River on Wednesday to take on the Rams. Game time is at 6 p.m. Spotswood won the previous season meeting with the Rams 2-1.
