MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ - Middlesex County has extended the deadline for opting out of receiving a Vote by Mail (“VBM”) ballot for the November 5, 2019 General Election and all future elections until 12pm EST, on Friday, September 20, 2019.  If voters who previously requested a VBM ballot in any of the 2016-2018 election cycles now do not wish to receive a VBM ballot for the 2019 General Election and ALL FUTURE ELECTIONS, kindly complete the Vote by Mail Removal Request found on the Middlesex County website at the following link: OptOutVBM and return it to the Office of the Middlesex County Clerk, or otherwise notify the County Clerk’s Office in writing, no later than 12pm EST, Friday, September 20, 2019.  The written notification can be sent by mail to Office of the County Clerk, 75 Bayard Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901 or via email to middlesexvotes@co.middlesex.nj.us.   The decision to extend the deadline has been made in order to accommodate those voters added to the Vote by Mail list due to a recent change in the law, who have not had sufficient time to submit their opt out requests previously.

If you do not notify the Office of the County Clerk of your preference not to receive a VBM ballot, you must cast your vote using the Mail-in Ballot mailed to you or by paper ballot (known as a “provisional ballot”) at your polling place for the November 5, 2019 General Election. You cannot cast your vote on the voting machine. 

If you are returning your Mail-in Ballot in person, it must be received by the Middlesex County Board of Elections before the close of polls on Election Day. The Board of Elections is located at 11 Kennedy Blvd., East Brunswick, NJ 08816. If you are returning your Mail-in Ballot by mail, it must be postmarked no later than Election Day and be received by the County Board of Elections no later than 48 hours after the time of the closing of the polls for the election.
