SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood Recreation Department's Trunk or Treat dates back to the Halloween when Hurricane Sandy roared into New Jersey. The event brought the borough together to celebrate a Halloween that wasn't at a time when people needed something fun to think about. Today, it's a tradition, so mark the calendar for Thursday, October 31 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Spotswood High School senior parking lot for the borough's annual Trunk or Treat. After all the treats are handed out, participants head inside the high school to the Cafetorium for a Halloween dance party and pizza. Prizes are awarded for the top decorcated trunks and of course the best costumes.

This year participants are asked to bring socks for the Trunk or Treat Sock Drive. New socks for kids, women and men will be collected to be donated to homeless shelters throughout Middlesex County. All vehicles should arrive between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The senior lot will be closed to traffic at 6:30 p.m. to allow the children to trunk or treat safely.

Spotswood High School is located at 105 Summerhill Road.
