SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The borough's annual tree lighting scheduled for December 1 has been canceled due to the impending rain which is forecast to fall later today. According to the Spotswood Borough website, the event will not be rescheduled.

The Spotswood Recreation Department posted the cancellation on their Facebook page, thanking residents who had planned to come out for the yearly holiday celebration on December 1.

"We thank all the people who had planned to join us and are very sorry we won't be able to kick off the holiday season with you this year," Spotwood Recreation Department Communication Liaison Donna Faulkenberry wrote in the post.

Santa will pay an early visit to Spotswood on December 15, making his traditional trip around town courtesy of the Spotswood Volunteer Fire Department. Residents should listen for siren beginning at around 9 a.m.

Helmetta will hold its annual tree lighting on Friday, December 7 on the front hall of the Helmetta Borough Hall at 7 p.m. The evening will include caroling, cookies and cocoa.
