HELMETTA/SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Department of Public Works has made the following adjustments to trash collection in Helmetta and Spotswood due to the coronavirus pandemic impacting New Jersey and the nation. The changes come on the heels of the state of emergency that was declared for the borough of Spotswood on Tuesday.
All trash must be placed in bags including garbage that is inside of cans. Any garbage not placed inside a bag will not be collected according to a public notice released by the Spotswood Department of Public Works via a Nixle advisory. Metal pickups will be temporarily suspended as well. The pickup scheduled for March 26 will be completed, but none will be scheduled after.
The bulk pickup scheduled for March30 will be completed. However, there will not be any more bulk pickups scheduled until further notice. Metal and electronics can continue to be dropped off at the Spotswood Borough Recycling Center. Residents are asked by the DPW not to leave trash at the recycling center.
The DPW's changes to their regular collection routine take effect on March 23.
