SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Borough Mayor Ed Seely will not be reopening basketball courts in the near future as previously mentioned in his June 10 letter to residents. In an addendum to his weekly update on Thursday, the mayor said he will not be reopening the borough's basketball courts.
"As I noted,I had serious reservations about doing so, and those, coupled with the safety concerns expressed to me from other individuals, have led me to postpone opening the basketball courts until further notice," Seely wrote in his Thursday addendum.
Seely added that the "health and safety" of borough residents "has to come first."
Helmetta Mayor Chris Salvicek announced earlier this week that Helmetta basketball and tennis courts would reopen as of Monday, June 15. Spotswood tennis courts have been open since the end of May.
