SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Harlem Wizards brought 58 years of basketball high jinks to the Spotswood High School Gymnasium on Monday for the Spotswood PTA's annual fall fundraiser. The event always brings out the fun and the families for the community-wide event. An enthusiastic array of teachers and administrators from the Spotswood School District's Schoenly, Appleby and Memorial Schools all laced up their sneakers to hit the court for the game. The Spotswood All-Stars were coached by Memorial Middle School Math teacher Michael Francis. The game was reffed by Spotswood High School Guidance Counselor Michael DelAversano.
In the end, the Harlem Wizards came out on top of the scoreboard, but the score wasn't necessarily the point of the family-friendly evening. Students past and present always get a kick out of seeing their teachers take on the Wizards.
"This is our sixth year hosting the Harlem Wizards and it is always guaranteed a fun night for all," said Spotswood PTA President Melissa Hallerman. "I look forward to it every year because I love to see all of our teachers, administrators and staff of the district together and having a great time. Our teachers are the absolute best. They give of their time, talent and energy every year and we couldn't be more grateful!"
