SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Registration for the Spotswood School District's preschool and kindergarten program is set to begin next month for children that reside in Spotswood and Helmetta.

Children who will be three or four years of age by October 1, 2020 are eligible for the preschool program. Registration begins on Thursday, February 6 in the Schoenly School Media Center from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Preschool enrollment is strictly first come, first serve. Payment of $675 is due at registration and will be applied to the June 2021 tuition bill. Checks should be made payable to the Spotswood Board of Education. Parents can download the necessary registration forms at the school district's website. In order to register for the preschool program, parents must have all the forms completed and show the required proof of residency as well as the child's original birth certificate. Children will not be allowed to register for the preschool program without payment and completed registration packets.

Kindergarten registration begins on Thursday, February 6 at the Schoenly School Media Center from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. It will be held on Friday, February 7 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. until 2:45 p.m too. Kindergarten registration is for children who will be turning five years of age on or before October 1, 2020.

Evening registration on February 6 is by appointment only. Parents needing an evening appointment must register online. Daytime registration does not require a scheduled appointment.

Parents must fill out the required forms as well as and bring the necessary paperwork for children to be registered. Kindergarten registration forms can be found at the Spotswood School District's website.

The required paperwork for both preschool and kindergarten registration includes:

  • Original birth certificate
  • Proof of residence
  • Driver's License
  • Proof of custody if applicable
  • Health records including updated immunization records and physical examination

Examples of proof of residency include current bank statement, utility statement, voter registration card or medical insurance statement.
