EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Logan Potter is a senior at the East Brunswick campus of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School. The Milltown native taps his favorite class as Pre-Engineering and Manufacturing. The teacher that earned the highest marks for Potter was his Pre-Engineering teacher, Stephen Mercadante. He appreciated that Mercadante was extremely "knowledgeable in the field of engineering."

During his four years at East Brunswick's Vocational and Technical School, Potter built robots and participated in the Technology School Association competition at the College of New Jersey in Ewing as a part of his Pre-Engineering and Manufacturing class. Potter also worked on three-dimensional modeling with OPENSCAD and Python coding software. He was a member of the Technology Student Association Club for all four years, holding a position within the organization since freshman year. For the past two years, Potter served as the president of the club. The teen is a member of the National Technical Honor Society.

Outside of school, Potter became an Eagle Scout when he was 15. He started in the scouting program with Milltown's Boy Scout Troop 33 in the third grade and served as its Senior Patrol Leader for the past two years.

Eagle Scout is the highest rank a scout can achieve within the Boy Scout organization. It's a milestone reached by only a small percentage of Boy Scouts. Since 1912, only five percent of Boy Scouts have been awarded the honor. In order to achieve the ranking of Eagle Scout, scouts must earn 21 badges including camping, cooking, swimming, hiking or cycling, citizenship in the community, citizenship in the nation, citizenship in the world, communications, lifesaving, environmental science, family life, first aid, personal fitness and personal management. Perspective Eagle Scouts must also complete an Eagle Scout service project. Potter's Eagle Scout project involved collecting more than 500 pairs of new or gently used shoes for impoverished children in the Dominican Republic.

While Potter has made many wonderful memories during his four years of high school, his favorite is being chosen as senior class couple along with his longtime girlfriend. He has also enjoyed making new friendships since students attending the East Brunswick campus come from all over Middlesex County. In the fall, Potter is headed to Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania. Potter plans to major in Data Science. He is also excited to be a part of Eastern University's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate college Esports team.
