SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Spotswood High School senior Delaney Yaniak was named as the November Student-of-the-Month. The Spotswood native has been a part of the high school's Drama Club and Music Club during her time as a Charger. She portrayed the memorable role of Mrs. Potts in the Drama Club's 2018 production of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast."
Yaniak has also been involved in Girls Learn International and Kids Create. She has been a high school helper for the Memorial Middle School's drama productions since her freshman year. The National Honor Society member was also a member of the Chargers girls varsity tennis team. She enjoys volunteering her time with community service ventures outside of school.
Her favorite class senior year has been AP Statistics with Spotswood High School Mathematics teacher Jeff Marvinny. While she enjoys Marvinny's class, the teacher that earns the highest marks is SHS English teacher Suzanne Fredricks. Yaniak loves that the two share a similar sense of humor.
While she has many treasured Charger memories, her top one is the last day of Spirit Week each year.
"The excitement of seeing all the decorated hallways and the anticipation for the pep rally, it was always one of those days that seemed to be out of a cheesy teen coming-of-age movie," Yaniak explained.
In the fall, Yaniak will be heading to Kean University in Union. She plans on majoring in Forensic Psychology.
"I could not be more excited," Yaniak said of her post graduation plans.
