HELMETTA/SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Got those pajamas on this morning? Well, don't take them off! It is Pajama Day for Spotswood School District students. The Spotswood PTA and Helmetta Mayor Chris Slavicek are launching Virtual School Spirit Week to help students and the community come together during the coronavirus crisis impacting the Garden State and the nation. The Spotswood School District is closed to students today so that teachers and administrators can finalize the details for distance learning. Remote learning will begin for students tomorrow as the district's schools are shut for at least the remainder of the week.

Participants in Virtual School Spirit Week can take pictures to show their community spirit and post them to the Spotswood PTA's Facebook or Instagram page using the tag @SPOTSWOODPTA or email them to spotswoodptanj@gmail.com. Each day a winner will be randomly selected to receive a special prize from Helmetta Mayor Chris Slavicek.

Since Monday, March 16 is a Snow Day of sorts, students are asked to wear their pjs today. The rest of the week's Virtual Spirit Week is as follows:

  • Tuesday - St. Patrick's Day - Wear green!
  • Wednesday - School Spirit Day - Show your school spirit by wearing your school gear!
  • Thursday - First Day of Spring - Wear bright colors to welcome the new season!
  • Friday - Down Syndrome Awareness Day - Put on your craziest socks to help celebrate our differences!
