HELMETTA, NJ - Tuesday was primary day in the Garden State and Helmetta Mayor Chris Slavicek took the opportunity to announce his bid for re-election on November 5 on his Facebook page.

"Today is Primary Election Day and the deadline for candidacy petitions for the upcoming general election in November," Slavicek posted yesterday. "I am pleased and honored to announce that I am officially running for a second term as mayor of Helmetta in the general election. It has been the utmost humbling and challenging opportunity to serve my beautiful community over the past four years. I've been blessed to be at the 'helm' of a dedicated governing body and truly amazing staff who genuinely care about the betterment of Helmetta."

"Throughout my journey as mayor, the interactions, relationships and fond friendships formed with the residents supersede even the most difficult decisions or days while in office," Slavicek continued. "I consider myself quite fortunate to reside in an incredible environment as such. I couldn't fathom this endeavor without the love and support of my family and friends. I'm hopeful I've made even a slight impact through my dedicated and honest leadership; coupled with my drive to be of distinct service to others."
