SPOTSWOOD, NJ - On the local level, the ballot is light for borough residents. The only local election to decide on is two open seats on the Spotswood Board of Education. Both seats carry a three year term and will be voted on by Spotswood and Helmetta voters. Incumbents Spotswood Board of Education President William Smith Jr. and Spotswood Board of Education member William Loschiavo are seeking re-election and are running unopposed on the Spotswood and Helmetta ballots.

Longtime borough resident Daniel Lennan is mounting a write-in campaign via social media. Lennan is seeking one of the two open BOE seats. Currently, the Kean University graduate serves as the PTA Board of Education liaison. According to his Linkedin account, Lennan is an aerial sales rep for United Rentals Inc. A Facebook post is making its round on social media encouraging Spotswood and Helmetta voters to write in Lennan for one of the two open Spotswood BOE seats.

Polls open in New Jersey on November 5 at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
