HELMETTA, NJ - Lorraine Mulcahy has always been a hero to her daughters Katie and Breezy, even before the coronavirus crisis. Mulcahy is a nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health in Old Bridge in the post-anesthesia care unit. The longtime Helmetta resident is known for her caring and compassionate nature. The current coronavirus pandemic has not changed her approach toward her profession. She continues to be there for her patients without a complaint. When she is not on the frontline helping to save lives, Mulcahy is a true Jersey girl, enjoying time on the beach or the pool. Her favorite thing to do is to spend time with her family.

Daughters Katie and Breezy Mulcahy are so proud of their mom and the incredible job she does that they wanted to nominate her to be a Helmetta Hometown Hero.

"Our Mom has no idea we are submitting this, but thought our town deserves to know about her and the rest of the Hometown Heroes that continue to work during these crazy days," Katie and Breezy said in their nomination email to Helmetta Mayor Chris Slavicek. "We are thankful for all the hometown heroes, including our amazing Mom!"

If you know a Helmetta Hometown Hero like Mulcahy who is on the frontline of the coronavirus crisis, send borough Mayor Chris Slavicek an email at mayor@helmettaboro.com. Nominations should include the person's name, a brief description of their job, what makes them a hometown hero and a photograph.
