HELMETTA, NJ - Lisa Grote is one proud mother. She nominated her daughter Nancy who is an emergency room nurse at Perth Amboy's Hackensack Meridian Hospital to be Sunday's Helmetta Hometown Hero. Nancy Grote earned her nursing degree through Middlesex County College while working as a nursing assistant. She was hired right after graduation as an emergency room nurse. The coronavirus pandemic has not changed her dedication to the profession she loves. Grote is continuing her education while still working fulltime during the COVID-19 crisis.

When she is not exhausted from work and school, Grote enjoys spending time with friends. Shopping and dinner dates are a favorite.

"I couldn't be more proud of her accomplishments," Lisa Grote said of her daughter. "Please pray for her and all our Hometown Heroes."

If you know a Helmetta Hometown Hero like Nancy Grote who is on the frontline of the coronavirus crisis, send borough Mayor Chris Slavicek an email at mayor@helmettaboro.com. Nominations should include the person's name, a brief description of their job, what makes them a hometown hero and a photograph.
