HELMETTA, NJ - Gerard Longmore has been a borough resident since 2004. He and his wife Heidi and their two children Nate and Shannon are active members of the community. As a general manager of Panera Bread on Route 9 in Manalapan, Longmore has been working to lend a hand to those in need of a meal during the coronavirus pandemic. Longmore and his team are partnered up with Fulfill, the former Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County, and Feeding America to provide 400 meals each day. In addition, Longmore is donating a Panera Bread congratulatory care package to each Helmetta Hometown Hero. Longmore's kind heart and philanthropic spirit are why Longmore is Monday's Helmetta Hometown Hero.

"His compassion for his family, friends and staff is one of his biggest qualities," Heidi Longmore said of her husband. "I'm so proud of his dedication to the community."

During his down time, Longmore loves spending time with his loving family. He is a huge Mets and Giants fan. Longmore enjoys heading down the shore whenever he can to enjoy New Jersey's beaches.

If you know a Helmetta Hometown Hero like Longmore who is on the frontline of the coronavirus crisis, send Borough Mayor Chris Slavicek an email at mayor@helmettaboro.com. Nominations should include the person's name, a brief description of their job, what makes them a hometown hero and a photograph.
