HELMETTA, NJ - John J. Grote started his career in healthcare right after graduating from high school. He began working at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick as a patient transporter. The experience made him realize his true passion was caring for people and he began working toward that goal. Today Grote is a Clinical Care Technician at Robert Wood and a nursing student. He is Sunday's Helmetta Hometown Hero.

Grote was nominated to be a hometown hero by his parents, John and Lisa Grote because of his dedication to helping patients, nurses and doctors during the coronavirus pandemic.

"We are so proud of him and the career path our son has chosen," the Grote's said of their son. "John is a fine young gentleman that is a joy to family and friends."
