SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Christine Munoz began making masks on a small scale to help a local urgent care. The 30 face masks she crafted quickly morphed into a much bigger endeavor. Munoz and her crew of volunteers has been fashioning face masks and headbands for healthcare workers at area hospitals through the Middlesex Mask Project. Since the group began making the masks the demand has grown to include rescue squad workers, nursing homes, senior communities and more. Munoz has started a GoFundMe page to help finance the cost of the supplies needed to make the protective face coverings.

The project is also in need of volunteers to help cut, sew and deliver. All the work is done remotely, following the social distancing guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Anyone interested in joining the Middlesex Mask Project can reach out to Munoz by messaging her on Facebook. Donations to the project can be made through the Middlesex Mask Project's GoFundMe page.
