HELMETA/SPOTSWOOD, NJ - All playground equipment and recreation areas including basketball courts are closed in Spotswood and Helmetta until further notice due to the coronavirus shutdown. The announcement was made on Saturday morning by the Spotswood Police Department through a Nixle advisory. Officials do not want children and teens utilizing the equipment and recreation areas because they are not sanitized. Helmetta Mayor Chris Slavicek said that walking is encouraged but residents should still follow social distancing guidelines when enjoying time outside.

Social distancing guidelines advise people to keep at least six feet away from one another in order to help reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus.
