MILLTOWN, NJ - The borough is holding a fall New Jersey Clean Communities event on Saturday, October 26 from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. and is looking for civic-minded volunteers who want to earn community service hours, extra credit or simply to lend a hand to spruce up Milltown's parks after a busy spring and summer.

Gloves, garbage bags, grabbers and recycling containers will be provided. Light refreshments and water will be on hand. Interested volunteers can contact Councilwoman Doriann Kerber by email at

Parking is available at the Milltown Municipal Building at 39 Washington Avenue. All volunteers need to sign in and fill out a waver before being directed to a clean up location.

Milltown held its first New Jersey Clean Communities event in 2017. New Jersey Clean Communities events are made possible by the Clean Communities Act, which was passed in 1986. The act is an all-inclusive, liter reduction program aimed at cleaning up towns throughout the state. It is administered by the Clean Communities Council that also overseas other statewide cleanup endeavors like the Adopt-a-Beach and Adopt-a-Highway programs.
