NEW JERSEY - Many area residents have taken to wearing masks and latex gloves when they venture out to purchase food or complete other necessary errands during the coronavirus shutdown. However, area police departments have been reminding residents via Nixle advisories to properly dispose of masks and gloves after a growing number of both have been found on the ground and in parking lots in communities across the Garden State.
According to the World Health Organization, used masks and gloves should be placed in a closed trash bin when taken off. Used masks and gloves should not be flushed or discarded in open areas especially on the ground.
East Brunswick Police Chief Frank LoSacco has notified East Brunswick residents that East Brunswick Police Department officers will be issuing summonses to anyone found throwing used masks and gloves on the ground in the community.
