SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Garden State continues to experience a roller coaster of temperatures as New Jersey goes from spring like temps to freezing all in the same week. In response to the anticipated change to colder temperatures, the borough has issued a Code Blue. The Code Blue will be in effect from today through Tuesday, February 12.

A Code Blue is a multi-agency response whose goal is to reduce the number of hypothermia fatalities among the most vulnerable members of the community during frigid temperatures, which includes children and the elderly.

Three warming centers will be available to residents from now through Tuesday, February 12. The available warming centers are:

  • The first floor Court Room in the Municipal Building on 77 Summerhill Road (This warming center will be open to those in need during the day and all night.)
  • Office on Aging on 1 Arlington Avenue (This warming center is available only on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.)
  • Spotswood Public Library on 548 Main Street (This warming center is only available during the library's business hours, which are Mondays from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesdays, 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Wednesdays 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Thursdays, 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Fridays from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.)

The Clearwater Village Clubhouse will be open all night during the current Code Blue, but is available to Clearwater Village residents only.
