SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The annual raking chore is in full swing as November is winding to a close. The Department of Public Works began handing out free biodegradable leaf bags back in October, but the supply has run out due to a higher demand this fall. The Department of Public Works apologized for the depleted supply on the borough website and will plan on ordering a larger supply this summer.

According to the borough website, residents must use biodegradable bags for leaves and should not mix leaves into trash put out for collection. The borough is fined when leaves are mixed in with regular trash collection. Bagged leaf pickup is on Mondays from now through late December.
