SOMERVILLE, NJ - All creatures great and small, furry, hairy, feathered or with scales - and their owners - are invited to the annual Blessing of the Animals at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m., rain or shine.

The blessing of the animals is an annual Episcopal tradition in honor of St. Francis Day.

This marks the 19th year that St. John’s has sponsored this community event, which recognizes the importance of pets and animals in people’s lives.

.Following the blessing of the animals, there will be a special pet reception with refreshments, door prizes, and the chance for people and their pets to mingle and share their tales (or tails).

Parking is available in the church lot behind the parish hall or on the street.

Weekly Sunday services are conducted at St. John's, 158 W. High St., at 8 am and 10:15 am with music at 10:15 am. St. John’s offers Sunday School every Sunday at 10:15 am preceded by “Children’s Chapel” at 10 am at which the rector, the Rev. Ronald Pollock, offers a brief children’s message.
