MILLTOWN, NJ - The Milltown Police Department will be taking part in the 36th anniversary of National Night Out, which began in 1984 as a way to strengthen the bonds between the community and the police in their unified fight against crime on Tuesday, August 6 from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. in the parking lot of the American Legion. The fun, family-friendly event also works to improve the relations between officers and the residents living in the towns they serve.
Milltown is one of the more than 9,000 communities across the nation participating in National Night Out, which always takes place on the first Tuesday in August except in Texas. Texas holds their National Night Out on the first Tuesday in October.
Tuesday's National Night Out will include free hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages while supplies last as well as live demonstrations from the Milltown Rescue Squad and the Milltown Fire Department. Kids can enjoy some bounce house fun and anyone can take a throw to dunk a member of the Milltown Police Department or the borough council. Residents will have to stop by to see who is sitting in the dunk tank. Tables will also be set up from local Milltown businesses, the Milltown Revitalization Committee and more.
The American Legion parking lot is located on 4 JF Kennedy Drive.
