HELMETTA, NJ - Allison Ricci graduated from the police academy last July and is a fulltime officer in Robbinsville. Ricci was born and raised in Spotswood, but moved to the borough in 2015. She was nominated to be Monday's Helmetta Hometown Hero by her twin sister Laura for her work as a first responder during the coronavirus crisis as well as her lifelong commitment to community service.
"Allison has always been one of the hardest working and independent people I know," Laura Ricci said of her sister. "She has always set extremely high goals for herself and worked tirelessly to achieve them, even if that meant working two to three jobs at a time. She has always had a love for helping other people and I can’t think of a more suitable job than her being a police officer. I know Allison hopes that being out in the community she can inspire other young women to follow there dreams regardless or how big or small they may seem."
Ricci began her career as a first responder while still living in Spotswood. She worked as an EMT and was later hired by the Borough of Spotswood to be a police dispatcher. Ricci described her graduation from the police academy this summer as being "the proudest day" in her life. She also considers it to be an honor to serve as a police officer. With her fulltime duties as an officer for the Robbinsville Police Department, Ricci still finds the time and energy to work as an EMT in Monroe Township.
When she is not working, Ricci loves spending time with her dogs Reese and Kona. The three of them really enjoy day trips down the shore. Ricci is a country music fan and is fond of going to concerts whenever time permits. A former cheerleader, Ricci delights in being a volunteer coach for the St. Barts Buffalo team.
If you know a Helmetta Hometown Hero like Ricci who is on the frontline of the coronavirus crisis, send borough Mayor Chris Slavicek an email at email@example.com. Nominations should include the person's name, a brief description of their job, what makes them a hometown hero and a photograph.
