SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Mark the calendars for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the borough's Municipal Complex. The Spotswood Police Department will be taking part in the 36th anniversary of National Night Out, which began in 1984 as a way to strengthen the bonds between the community and the police in their unified fight against crime. The fun, family-friendly event also works to improve the relations between officers and the residents living in the towns they serve.

Spotswood is one of the more than 9,000 communities across the nation participating in National Night Out, which always takes place on the first Tuesday in August except in Texas. Texas holds their National Night Out on the first Tuesday in October.

The Spotswood Police Department is inviting Spotswood and Helmetta residents to come out and enjoy a night with their neighbors and officers of the SPD. This event is always well attended and features food, games, vendors, giveaways and a water slide and a bounce house for the kids.

Organizations and vendors interested in reserving a spot or making a donation can contact Lieutenant Les Genovese by email at Lgenovese@spotswoodboro.com or by telephone at 732-251-2121 extension 856.
