SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Allison Clarke, Cat Riley and Kirti Craig helped to lead the Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team's comeback over Metuchen High School on Wednesday. The trio all netted double digits as the Chargers mounted a second half rally to defeat the Bulldogs 51-48. Spotswood was down 30-18 at the halftime break, but came back strong in the final two quarters, outscoring Metuchen 33-18 to nail down the victory.
Clarke and Riley netted 13 points for Spotswood while Craig scored a dozen. Julia Masucci added nine on the scoreboard for the Chargers. Sam Antin was the game's top scorer. Antin scored 14 points for the Bulldogs. Molly Malaguel and Chase Klavon both dropped 13 for Metuchen.
The victory improved Spotswood's overall record to 9-8 and the team's Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division record to 5-6. Spotswood is back on the court on Friday when the Chargers host Middlesex High School at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium. The Chargers have lost the previous three meetings with the Blue Jays including one earlier this season. Tip off is at 6 p.m.
