SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team wrapped up its second win of the season on Monday, two days before Santa arrives, defeating John F Kennedy Memorial High School 59-34. The Chargers took a 36-26 lead into the halftime break. Spotswood's defense locked down JFK's offense in the final two quarters, keeping the Mustangs to only eight points.
Senior Jessica Addesso led the game in scoring with 15 points. Allison Clarke earned a double-double by netting 12 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Junior Julia Masucci also put up double digits on the scoreboard, earning 10 points. Senior Maddie Hellerich scored seven points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Giana Oelkers put in eight points while Megan Devlin added four and grabbed six rebounds. Kirti Craig scored two and Gianna Perez chipped in one. Kristina Caroselli scored 10 for JFK while Olivia Simms added nine.
Monday's win was Spotswood's final regular season game for 2019. The team will participate in its annual holiday tournament with play beginning on Saturday. Spotswood plays Monroe Township High School at 5 p.m. Monroe is the tournament host. The Chargers get back into regular season action on January 3 at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium against Carteret High School at 6 p.m.
