SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Liam Barlow and Jimmy Lentino both found the back of the net to help the Spotswood High School boys varsity soccer team defeat North Brunswick High School 2-1 on Thursday. Yanni Hatzistefanis and Luke Tharney earned assists in the victory. Ricardo Figuero netted the only goal for North Brunswick on a feed from Sebastian Salazar. Andrew Bishara made 13 saves for Spotswood while Santiago Andino and Matthew Panyko combined to stop 12 shots.

The victory improved Spotswood's overall record to 13-6-1. The Chargers take on South River High School on Tuesday in the first round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group Two Tournament. Spotswood is the seventh seed and South River is the tenth. The rivalry between the two teams is a hot one. Spotswood won both meetings between the two teams this season. South River is 12-7 this fall. Game time is 2 p.m. at the Spotswood High School Varsity Soccer Field.
