EDISON, NJ - St. Thomas Aquinas got on the scoreboard first on a goal by Dani Renda, but three second half goals by the Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team kept the unbeaten streak alive for the Chargers on Wednesday. Spotswood defeated St. Thomas 3-1 to move their overall record on the season to 10-0-2. The Chargers remain the only unbeaten team in the Greater Middlesex Conference. South River lost to South Brunswick High School yesterday 5-1.

Mandee Mendez had two goals in the victory and Kirti Craig scored one to help secure the win for Spotswood. Haiden Gonzalez had an assist for the Chargers. Jill Balsamo had an assist for St. Thomas. Julia Masucci made eight saves for Spotswood while Eryn Oldroyd made nine for St. Thomas. Masucci has only allowed three goals in 12 games for the Chargers.

Spotswood travels to Metuchen High School on Friday to take on the Bulldogs. Metuchen and Spotswood played to a 0-0 tie after double overtime on September 16. The Bulldogs are 10-2-1 and are riding a six game win streak. Spotswood won both meetings with Metuchen last season. Game time is 4 p.m.
