METUCHEN, NJ - After playing to a scoreless tie following two overtimes in their last meeting, the Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team's 12 game unbeaten streak ended with the Bulldogs on Friday. Metuchen High School was riding a six-game win streak when the two teams met yesterday and the Bulldogs came away with a 2-1 win. Alexandra Lipshutz put in the game-winner for Metuchen who extended its win streak to seven. Caitlyn Waldron scored the other goal for the Bulldogs while Charlotte Breen and Cassidy Connors earned assists. Laci Brown netted the only goal for Spotswood.
The Chargers were the last Greater Middlesex Conference team that had not lost a game since the start of the 2019 season to fall. South River High School was the other, but lost earlier in the week to South Brunswick High School. Spotswood went 10-0-2 during the stretch. On Monday, the Chargers take on Wardlaw-Hartiridge High School. The two teams also played to a scoreless tie in their last meeting this season. Monday's game is in Piscataway with a 4 p.m. start time. Wardlaw-Hartridge has a 10-2-1 overall record and won both games with the Chargers last season.
