TOMS RIVER, NJ -- The Milltown 12U baseball team had a one-run lead after five innings, but Bordentown rallied for a 7-6 victory that ended Milltown's run in the Section 3 Little League Tournament Tuesday night.
Carter Cumiskey and Ryder Simpson each drove in a run and Trey Lazar belted an RBI triple when Milltown scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-1 lead. Bordentown took a 5-3 lead before Milltown rallied for two unearned runs in the bottom of the third to knot the game, 5-5.
Milltown took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Cody Rullo doubled, then stole third base. Ronny Peralta's single delivered Rullo with the go-ahead run.
Ryder Simpson pitched 4 1/3 innings for Milltown, which was playing its third game in four days. Milltown had lost to North Howell in the opening game of the double-elimination tournament on Saturday, but came back to defeat Toms River East, 5-2, on Monday night.
Milltown had rallied to defeat Sayreville for the District 10 championship last week, which qualified the team for the Section 3 tournament.
