ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The Milltown 12U baseball team hit the ground running in its week at Cooperstown All-Star Village, coming up with a pair of victories in the first day of pool play on Sunday.

While Major League Baseball was inducting six new members to the Baseball Hall of Fame just  a few miles north of the All-Star Village, Milltown defeated Lake Mary of Florida, 11-6, in the first game of the day, played early in the scorching afternoon.

In an early evening game, Milltown completed a successful day with an 12-4 victory over Gulderland of New York. Milltown got strong pitching in that game from Jeremy DeCaro and big hits from Cody Rullo, Trey Lazar, Carter Cumiskey, Breckyn DeAngelis and Mason Bitalla, among others. Cumiskey and DeAngelis each hit a home run on Sunday.

It will be up and at 'em early on Monday, when Milltown plays two more games, beginning with a 9:55 a.m. matchup against Seals Baseball of California.

The team has dedicated its Cooperstown trip to injured teammate Tyler "Bubba" Oleksy, who missed the trip because he is recovering from a leg injury he suffered during the District 10 tournament, which Milltown won.
